Mentors in the Middle
Mentors in the Middle is a non-profit organization providing mental and academic preparation among middle school students as they enter high school. This mentor system recognizes communication as a crucial tool in facilitating the transition from middle school to high school and starts early on, fostering long-term friendships between middle school and high school students. Important components of this system include a pen-pal system, tutoring opportunities, social outings, and life skills workshops. Operational costs will be covered through various student-run fundraising events that provide an opportunity for students to apply organizational skills and teamwork abilities. Ultimately, Mentors in the Middle introduces innovative components to already successful concepts to create a program that will help reduce high school dropout rates all across the nation.
